I like Blight Herder as a cheaper but potentially strong midgame creature that brings along an army in a can similar to powerful creatures in the past like Siege-Gang Commander and Cloudgoat Ranger

He gives your Elves (him too) the ability to untap when they tap on your turn and grow with a +1/+1 counter, but just once per turn

This is especially good because they both get way better the more of them are in play though you do have to choose to go with one or the other to maximize their potential

If it changes zones, it will either cease to exist (if it's a token) or cease to be a copy (if it's a nontoken permanent), and so you won't be able to cast it as an Adventure
